Obituary for Claudia Bordwell Pisano
On Friday, February 23, 2024, Claudia Bordwell Pisano left this world to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She had recently been diagnosed with stage 4 gallbladder cancer and although she was ready to fight, she suffered from a stroke that greatly impacted her health and ability to continue on with the cancer treatment. Ever the fighter, Claudia worked hard to find her voice in order to comfort her family and friends and to make sure that she spent her final days at home, surrounded by family and friends.
Claudia is survived by her sons, Christopher Pisano, his wife, Lauren and their two sons, Baylor and Lawson of Ponte Vedra, FL, and Bryan Pisano and his wife, Sandy of Richmond, VA; her brother, Ken Bordwell and nieces Baylee Bordwell of Salem, NY; Kira Konstantinovich and Michael Konstantinovich Bordwell; her brother in law, Andrew Pisano, nephews, Jimmy Pisano, Jeffery Pisano and wife, Shelley and their children, Ryan, Ellie and Paige, and niece, Debra Lewis and husband, VJ and their daughter, Sophie, all of MD; her sister-in-law, Lois Pisano and nephew, Greg Pisano and wife, Laura and their children, Rob, Zachary and Alexia, all of CA. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, Dan Pisano and her mother, Catherine Bordwell.
Claudia was born July 9, 1951, in Schenectady, New York. She began dating her high school sweetheart, Dan while attending Linton High School in 1969. On August 2, 1970, they made it official and married in Schenectady, NY. They welcomed sons, Bryan in 1971 and Christopher in 1978. In 1979, they moved to Charlotte where they spent 41 years raising their sons, running several businesses, and being deeply involved in their church.
Claudia loved her family and was so excited to become a “Grandma” in 2012 when her first grandson, Baylor was born and just as thrilled when her second grandson, Lawson followed in 2016. In December of 2021, Claudia and Dan moved to Ponte Vedra, FL to build their dream home and live out their ‘second act’ alongside Chris, Lauren, Baylor, Lawson, and her ‘grand puppies’ Charleigh, Ollie & (the late) Bella. Although she did not have any grandbaby girls, she had an incredibly close bond with both Bella & Charleigh & they became her babies. It made her days living around the corner from her grandsons and she took great pride in showing them off! One of her favorite nights of the week had become family dinners spent eating, laughing, and playing lots (& lots) of games together.
For the past two years, she worked part time for Starling Assisted Living & Memory care in her community and made many close bonds with the residents, their families, and her co-workers. She adored her neighbors and spent much of her free time socializing with and enjoying their time together. They became an extended family to her and helped heal her heart after the loss of her husband in January 2022.
Claudia loved the Lord and was very involved in their NC church, Christ Covenant Presbyterian in Matthews, NC. A member for over 25 years, she took great pride in serving the Lord and made many deep and meaningful relationships there that she loved and cherished until her passing. Although not a member, she often attended Chris and Lauren’s church, St. Francis in the Field Episcopal church in Ponte Vedra FL, and was blessed to have their love and support through the passing of Dan, her recent cancer diagnosis, and her last months on this earth. She found great comfort in their pastor, Father Justin Yawn and she leaned on him many times over the course of the last two years.
A visitation for Claudia is scheduled on Friday, March 15th from 5:00pm - 7:00pm at the Heritage Funeral Home (4431 Old Monroe Rd, Indian Trail, NC 28079). Her celebration of life will take place on Saturday, March 16th at 10:30am at Christ Covenant Presbyterian Church (800 Fullwood Ln, Matthews, NC 28015). It will be immediately followed by a graveside burial ceremony at Forest Lawn East Cemetery (3700 Forest Lawn Dr., Matthews, NC 28104).
A memorial service will be held at 11am on Friday, March 22nd at St. Francis in the Field (895 Palm Valley Rd, Ponte Vedra Fl 32081) for her Florida friends to join in celebrating her life and there friendships.
