Wright, Donn Charles MALTA Donn Charles Wright, 58, of Malta, N.Y., formerly of Schenectady, died Friday, September 18, 2009 after a short illness, surrounded by his loved ones. Born in Schenectady, he was the son of Elaine and Theodore Voss and George and Patricia Wright, all of Schenectady. Donn was a graduate of Linton High School where he excelled in athletics and was an Olympic caliber gymnast. He attended Plattsburgh State College and was later employed as a journeyman machinist for General Electric. Donn and his family lived and worked in various locations around the US including Portland, Ore., Syracuse, N.Y. and Plymouth, Mass., recently moving back to the area. Donn was most recently employed as a machinist for Greno Industries of Rotterdam. Donn was a thoughtful and honest person who enjoyed a variety of activities including rugby, biking, hiking and fishing. A few of Donn's other interests were woodworking, computer games, good music and fine cigars. Donn was the loving and devoted father of Nicole Wright of Syracuse, David Wright of N.H. and Joseph Wright. He was the beloved brother of Lori (Larry) Zyra and Cathy Wright and is survived by his beloved nephews, an aunt, cousins and by his dearly-loved girlfriend and caregiver, Carol Gottfried of Malta. Funeral services will be held at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home. Interment will be in Memory's Garden, Colonie. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 5-8 p.m. Service to be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Donations may be made in Donn's memory to the Animal Protective Foundation, 53 Maple Avenue, Scotia, NY 12302 or to the Hudson River Human Society, 3 Oakland Avenue, Menands, NY 12204.
